This training is for present or future Access users (versions 2003, 2007, 2010 or 2013).

How to create a database with Microsoft Access

  • Discovering the basic notions of an Access Table (field, record, data type)

Data

  • Insert and modify data
  • Navigate in an Access Datasheet
  • Use the wizards to create a database

Tables

  • Use of the online templates to create a new database/table (2007 & 2010 & 2013)
  • How to create tables manually
  • How to use the new datatypes (attachment) (2007 & 2010 & 2013)
  • Importing data from SharePoint (2007 & 2010 & 2013)
  • Add, delete, move a field, select a data type
  • How to assign a default value, a condition, ... to a field
  • Define primary keys
  • Indexation of certain fields
  • How to link several tables

When/why to use several tables?

  • When and why to use several tables?
  • Define relationships between tables, to modify their characteristics, to delete relationships
  • Enforce referential integrity between tables: 1-1 relations, 1-N; update data
  • Insert and modify data
